Microneedling and Platelet-Rich Plasma PRP platelet

I did Microneedling with PRP 4 months ago and my skin looks better than ever! The procedure is totally natural, using my own growth factors has made my skin so smooth and bright! I received my treatments at another office (thank you Dr. Walter Tom!) in town to see if it was something I thought my clients would benefit from, and I have been completely convinced of that.  After my second treatment and very rapid recovery, I knew we had to offer this terrific service at Morpheus.

Microneedling with PRP /PRF takes about two hours of time in our office, but about 30 minutes of that time is spent chilling out and letting your skin get numb.

During the aging process, several changes take place in the skin, namely, the skin health, texture and tone change because of diminished blood flow and it becomes collapsed and droopy as muscle and collagen decrease. As a result, the person looks “worn”, or “tired” or “droopy.”  The lively, rosy hue seen in children of every skin color fades to a dull gray, with areas of smooth and healthy soft tissue receding and giving their place to prominent bony features. As a result, the face loses its fresh and youthful appearance. The good news is that at Morpheus Medical Aesthetics we provide various treatments that can tackle these changes and prevent or reverse the effects of aging on your skin and body.

The PRP procedure relies on the naturally-occurring growth factors and stem cells that are present in your blood. These factors are known to stimulate key skin cells such as fibroblasts and keratinocytes and can promote synthesis and remodeling of collagen and proteoglycans and sprouting of new blood vessels, vital for supporting healthy and youthful skin. During PRP, these factors are obtained and enriched from a small volume of your own blood and injected back skillfully to selected areas in your face just like dermal fillers, to give you a natural and non-surgical facelift, replenishing lost volume and smoothing out wrinkles. To enhance the effectiveness of the results, your provider will often combine your PRP injection with FDA-approved dermal fillers, and or Sculptra. The result is two-fold – you will see the instant results of the fillers, and the complex matrix of proteins and various growth factors and cells in PRP will continue the rejuvenation process under your skin. By combining the applications of dermal fillers with blood-derived growth factors, the PRP offers a unique balanced approach to revive your beauty.

Bet you’re wondering just how Platelet-Rich Plasma PRP and Platelet-Rich Fibrin PRF works?

Blood has been long recognized in various cultures and civilizations as the essence and source of life. Thanks to advances in medicine, we now know that blood is a complex “tissue” consisting of several types of cells and thousands of factors suspended in a liquid medium, known as plasma. Blood and its various components are known to contain life-giving fundamental protein growth factors that are essential to promote and sustain cellular and tissue vitality. While blood is normally contained within the circulation and cannot reach the cells and tissues of your skin, PRP procedure makes it possible to supply your skin with all those essential and revitalizing factors in a controlled and safe manner. PRP utilizes a leading-edge patented technology specifically designed and verified for aesthetic applications.

With a simple, quick and advantageous process, we will be able to harness a very high concentration of your biological nutrient-rich cells and create autologous platelet-rich plasma (i.e. your blood plasma that has been enriched with your blood platelets and proteins). Following the injection, PRP causes an increase in the volume in the site of injection, but more importantly, PRP continually works like a rejuvenating agent thanks to the various revitalizing factors and cells that it contains. As a result:

The skin color and tone become rejuvenated and ”younger” because of new blood vessel formation, supplying skin with oxygen and essential nutrients.
New collagen formations and collagen remodeling in the dermis lift the face back to a more youthful shape.
Because the growth factors are working to build a new dermis, the epidermis (the outer most layers of your skin) appears smoother.

Ok that sounds amazing right?! Now you must want to know how Platelet-Rich Plasma PRP / Platelet-Rich Fibrin PRF is done?

Here is an overview of the microneedling procedure:

When you come see us at Morpheus Medical Aesthetics, we will draw a small amount of your blood using a fine needle, similar to what is normally drawn to perform routine blood tests (don’t be nervous we have a gentle, caring touch). The blood is collected into a sterile and sealed special tube to avoid coagulation (formation of blood clots) and contamination, which will bear your name to avoid any mix-up.

We will place the blood into a centrifuge machine and spin the blood at a very rapid rate to separate various components of blood, namely the plasma and the platelets from other components of the blood. This will form the basis of Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) used in your treatment.

The PRP is activated to release the essential growth factors and signaling proteins and is injected skillfully by your clinician into selected areas of your face.

Platelet-Rich Plasma injection initiates a regenerative process that translates your skin from within. The activated growth factors will instinctively know how to repair and strengthen the specific tissues where they reside. Furthermore, since all constitutes retrieved in PRP are exclusively from your own body (autologous in origin), there is virtually no risk of an allergic reaction or intolerance.
