How do Dysport treatments work?

Dysport is made from the same botulinum toxin as Botox, a neuromodulator derived from the Clostridium botulinum bacteria. When used therapeutically, botulinum blocks the nerve signals in targeted muscles that tell them to move. Dysport is used on the upper face in five points between and above the eyebrows to target moderate to severe frown lines, also known as glabellar lines. Your forehead will be wrinkle-free for up to four months with just one injection into each of these five points. What can I expect during my Dysport treatment?
Treatment times can vary from person to person, but generally speaking, Dysport treatments are relatively easy and minimally invasive procedures that take only 10 to 20 minutes to complete. At Morpheus Medical Aesthetics, we understand that injectable treatments can make some clients anxious, so we've created a warm, welcoming environment to help you feel as comfortable and relaxed as possible. We want to be the best part of your day, so we also provide ice and numbing cream upon request so you can have a pleasant, enjoyable experience. We even have Rosie the Dog to provide in-office cuddles and support!
Dysport treatments are safe and consistent for both men and women with no downtime. You can go back to work or play right after your appointment and resume all normal activities. Side effects are minimal, but may include mild bruising and swelling at the injection site.
What results can I expect from my Dysport treatment?
Dysport's unique formula allows it to diffuse readily and evenly throughout treated areas for a soft, natural-looking appearance. After your treatment, you'll begin to notice the results after two to five days that will last for up to four months. With repeated use, Dysport and other neuromodulators can “train” your facial muscles to stay relaxed, so it not only reduces the appearance of existing wrinkles but can help prevent new ones from forming.
The number of treatments each client will need for their desired effects varies, but it's important to note that the more Dysport is needed to achieve results similar to Botox. This is due to differences in how each product is manufactured and measured. Although you will receive the same amount of botulinum toxin, it takes three Dysport units to equal one unit of Botox. The cost-per-unit is cheaper ($5/Dysport unit), but the overall cost works out to be about the same because you will need 90 units of Dysport to equal 30 units of Botox, for example.
