PDO Thread Lift

In recent years, the aesthetics industry has shifted towards bio-stimulatory products and techniques. In the continuous search for the fountain of youth, the development of products that stimulate collagen production and neogenesis has taken the main stage.

We've All Heard About Botox & Fillers…

Book NowAnd don't get us wrong, they are amazing, but there's so much out there now! What else is there? What's all this hype about collagen and bio-stimulation? What will give me the most natural-looking results without looking "overdone?"

One of the newest treatments available is PDO Thread Lifts. PDO stands for Polydioxanone, which is a biodegradable polyester suture. Just like dissolvable sutures used by doctors in surgery, these threads are placed in the subdermal layers of your face to lift sagging skin.

This is where it gets really good. The presence of these sutures in your skin triggers cells in your body called fibroblasts to produce more collagen. Collagen is the naturally occurring protein that gives your skin its structure and elasticity. Collagen loss is one of the leading causes of aging skin.

Did You Know?

After the age of 20, we produce about 1% less collagen in our skin each year. As a result, the skin becomes thinner and more fragile, which means more wrinkles and sagging. At Morpheus Medical Aesthetics, we use NovaThreads (PDO Threads). The two main types of threads that we use are:

  • Barbed for Lifting
  • Smooth & Twist for Elastic Collagen Synthesis

What To Expect

It takes a little over three months for your body to absorb the threads, and the results last approximately one year. Typically, we schedule thread treatments 4-6 weeks apart, with little to no downtime required.

We always do an initial consultation to discuss your goals and determine the best treatment for your unique face, skin, and needs. If threads aren't your thing, that's okay too. We have plenty of other options that stimulate your body's collagen growth—products like Sculptra, PRP (platelet-rich plasma), Micro-Needling, and Profound.

If this sounds like something you are interested in or would like to know more about, then we would love to meet you, answer any questions you have, and help you look and feel your best. Aging is a privilege, and we help you do it better.

What is the MEDiTHREAD PDO Thread Lift?

MEDiTHREAD's PDO Thread Lift is a noninvasive procedure that uses biodegradable threads to effectively lift and tighten sagging skin. Designed for facial rejuvenation, the PDO Thread Lift can target key areas of the face by reinforcing the underlying structures that support smooth, healthy skin. Compared to other treatments, the PDO Thread Lift provides a trifecta of benefits that promote more vibrant looking skin: lifting, tightening and collagen production. Together, these effects provide natural-looking results that enhance your beautiful features so you can look your best.

How Does the PDO Thread Lift Work?

The PDO Thread Lift utilizes threads made from polydioxanone (PDO), a safe and biocompatible material with a long track record of success in the medical industry. In aesthetics, PDO threads or sutures are used to pull or lift the soft tissues of treated areas to a desired position, reducing the appearance of sagging skin in areas such as the cheeks, jowls, nasolabial folds, neck and brows. The PDO Thread Lift is a nonsurgical procedure and threads are inserted using thin, hollow needles. This is a minimally invasive technique that leaves no residual scarring. Once inserted, the threads are then weaved throughout the deep tissues of the face or neck, where they anchor and lift the skin for an immediate rejuvenating effect.

The instant lift is just the beginning of the story, however. PDO threads are biodegradable and will dissolve after four to six months. During this time, they integrate into the underlying structure of treated areas and stimulate the production of new, fresh collagen. This cellular renewal produces long-lasting results, including improved tone and texture, increased elasticity and fewer fine lines or wrinkles. These effects will remain long after the threads are naturally absorbed, leaving behind vibrant-looking skin without surgery or downtime.

Am I a Good Candidate for a PDO Thread Lift?

The PDO Thread Lift is ideal for those who have started to notice the signs of aging in the cheeks, jowls or neck but don't want or need extensive surgery to refresh their appearance. Often called the "weekend facelift," thread lifts are a great alternative to the traditional facelift and produce beautiful, natural results without the recovery or downtime of surgical procedures. You may also be a good candidate for a PDO Thread Lift if you:

  • Have mild to moderate skin laxity
  • Want a lifted, more contoured appearance
  • Are unhappy with jowls or a wrinkled neck
  • Want to eliminate the risk of scarring
  • Want a rejuvenated, natural look
  • Don't want to commit to surgery or downtime

The PDO Thread Lift is also a great alternative to dermal fillers or Botox, or it can be combined with these treatments for more comprehensive rejuvenation. At Morpheus Medical Aesthetics, we take the time to get to know you and your needs and our team of aesthetic experts will work closely with you to craft a personalized treatment plan. Our goal is to help you achieve attractive, natural results that will have others guessing what your secret is while empowering you to embrace the best possible version of yourself.

What to Expect During Your PDO Thread Lift

Your PDO Thread Lift procedure will take about 15 to 30 minutes to complete, but this will vary depending on your specific needs and treatment areas. Before beginning, your provider will discuss the procedure with you, review your desired outcome and identify the best thread placement based on your goals. You will then receive local anesthesia in treatment areas and thin, pre-threaded needles will be inserted into the deeper layers of your skin. Following the contours of your face, neck or other treatment areas, your aesthetic expert will maneuver the threaded needle so the surrounding tissues are gathered in the PDO threads. Once inserted, the threads are simply clipped and don't need to be tied or otherwise secured, as they will be anchored firmly beneath your skin.

After your procedure, you may notice some swelling at the injection sites, but this will quickly subside. There are no incisions with the PDO Thread Lift, so your risk of scarring, bruising and other side effects is minimal, as is downtime and recovery. In fact, most clients are able to immediately resume all normal activities after their procedure. The threads themselves will be naturally absorbed by your body over time, so you don't have to worry about removal or residual materials being left behind.

What Kind of Results Can I Expect?

Your PDO Thread Lift will provide a subtle immediate improvement in the contours of treated areas, with skin looking tighter, smoother and more lifted. Over time, the threads will integrate into the underlying tissues and new collagen will begin to form around them, providing extra lift and natural, long-term results. After the threads have dissolved, the new collagen and fibrous tissues will remain and continue to provide a lifted appearance. Other results include:

  • Smoother, tighter skin
  • Improved elasticity
  • Increased collagen production
  • Reduced sagging in treated areas
  • More contoured appearance

These improvements will remain long after the threads are gone, lasting for 12 to 15 months. The longevity of your individual outcome will depend on a variety of factors, but with proper skin care and healthy habits, you can expect to enjoy firm, vibrant skin a year or more after your treatment. To maintain your results, the procedure can be repeated and even combined with other treatments for a fully rejuvenated appearance.
