Which Sunscreen to Use

I am one week into vacation and have finally relaxed enough to have some creative thoughts.  Creative thought of this morning?  Which sunscreen to use…  I have brought with me two that we do not carry but that I am curious about by elta MD and my daily products that I always use SkinMedica’s tinted Total Defense and Repair (SPF 34) and ColoreScience’s very water resistant powder (SPF 30 and SPF 50).  Especially because I had an SRA (FotoFacial for brown spots) just before I left for Vaca, I am totally committed to a MINIMUM of solar exposure – this in spite of being in the Bahamas an aboard a catamaran for two weeks of kiting, snorkeling and general water-sports fun.

In the past, I have been an outspoken fan of the **ColoreScience powder as it has served me well kite boarding in Hawaii and other tropical locations, but I am also open to other products being as good as, or even better than my favorite.  To this end I have brought elta MD’s UV Physical Broad-Spectrum SPF 41 (water resistant to 40 minutes) and UV Sport Broad-Spectrum SPF 50 (water resistant to 80 minutes).  These are what I have applied this morning, and because I am paranoid, I have also applied some **ColoreScience sunforgettable “very water resistant” powder all over everything.  To further my testing, I have also liberally applied some of the elta UV Sport to my friend Laurel, a highly trained water-sport professional (see www.LaurelEastman.com) who has volunteered to also wear some sunscreen.  I’m not sure what we are testing other than customer satisfaction.  I will say that the SkinMedica has reliably stung my eyes e every time that II have snorkeled and so what I am really looking for is a sting-free snorkel as we are about to jump in the water and check out a place called the Aquarium located in front of Johnny Depp’s private island (not actually located in the Carribean, but rather the Bahamas.). See photos…  Results to follow.
